Located above the famous Nevidio Canyon, Grabovica comes alive only during spring when snowmelt from the Durmitor mountains fills the canyon with crystal-clear water, waterfalls and natural slides. Active for only a few weeks each season, it is one of the rarest canyoning tours in Montenegro — a hidden world of waterfalls, emerald pools and untouched mountain wilderness that very few people ever see.

History of Nevidio

The "Unseen" canyon

Hidden deep within the Durmitor mountains, Nevidio remained one of Montenegro's greatest natural mysteries for centuries. Its name, which means "Unseen", comes from the fact that the river suddenly disappears into a narrow crack in the rock, becoming invisible to the human eye.

Due to its steep cliffs, powerful waterfalls, and extremely narrow passages, Nevidio was considered inaccessible for a long time. Many attempts were made to explore the canyon, but the first serious expeditions in 1957 and 1964 were unsuccessful.

Everything changed in August 1965, when a group of mountaineers from the mountaineering club "Javorak" from Nikšić successfully completed the first passage through the canyon. With limited equipment and tremendous determination, they revealed one of the last unexplored canyons in Europe.

Today, Nevidio is recognized as one of the most spectacular canyoning destinations in Europe. Its towering cliffs, crystal-clear pools, waterfalls, natural slides, and narrow passages attract adventurers from all over the world.

The canyon itself is approximately 1,700 meters long, with cliffs rising up to 400 meters above the river. In some sections, the distance between the canyon walls is only a few meters, creating a natural labyrinth of magical karst formations, sculpted by water over thousands of years. Smooth stone corridors, hidden chambers, narrow passages, and unique rock shapes make every turn through Nevidio feel like entering another world.

More than half a century after its first exploration, Nevidio continues to inspire everyone who enters its hidden world and experiences the adventure that made it legendary.

Good to know

No. Nevidio requires no abseiling — the route is based on swimming, jumps and natural slides. With basic swimming skills and a moderate level of fitness, anyone can join. All jumps are optional with easier alternatives available.

Just swimwear and a towel. We provide the full professional equipment: a 5 mm wetsuit, neoprene socks, canyon shoes, helmet and harness.

Safety is our top priority. Our internationally certified, rescue-trained guides, premium equipment ensure a safe adventure for everyone.

Minors may participate when accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, provided they can swim and are comfortable in water. Contact us and we'll advise on suitability.

Nevidio is typically open from late spring through early autumn, depending on water levels. Grabovica runs only during the spring snowmelt. Contact us for current conditions and availability.
